I've never done the night tour but I think it's more structured and guided while the day tour is much more self guided. As Ramblin' Sal says book in advance but be aware that the night tour only runs Thurday to Sunday(much to my annoyance as we are there Monday to Wednesday!),the night tour is that much more atmospheric & eerie & is well worth the extra few dollars,wrap up well it can get pretty chilly(day or night tour)!
