When Bootstrap Tour starts a tour on an element, they apply: A full screen black tour-backdrop with a z-index of 1009, A white tour-step-background behind the object with a z-index of 1010; and apply a z-index to the current tour element of 1011

Nov 16, 2015 · The problem is that .tour-step-background has background: inherit;, which I guess means that it uses the body background. In that case, the background of the element is dark but the body is light so we have this inappropriate result. In my opinion, a fix is not easy. Adding opacity: 0.5; could help but only when the element has a dark background.

It would be cool to have an additional option for the step's backdrop to keep the full navbar highlighted. Basically, a "backdropElement" option that overrides the step's "element" when drawing the backdrop divs, which would allow a parent item to be highlighted when discussing a child.
