I took the 8 day Caravan Tour to Costa Rica recently. Overall we had a nice time. Here's what we liked and didn't like about this tour: Liked: Hotels were mostly top notch parfticularly the JW Marriott, Arenal Springs and San Bada Hotel. I spoke to those on another Caravan Tour that were not lucky enough to stay at the Arenal Springs and were not as impressed with their hotel.

My husband and I took the Caravan Costa Rica Natural Paradise tour in March of 2014. This was our 3rd Caravan tour. Everything was wonderful. You can not go wrong with this tour company. The J.W. Marriott was so nice, all the activities are well planned, and the price is very good.

Did Princess full transit(LA to FLL)a few years ago and just did the Costa Rica tour. If cost is a factor then Caravan to Costa Rica is the hands down winner. But if cost is not a factor then it is hard to compare. The relaxation of a cruise does lend something special to a trip.

Caravan provides a whirlwind tour of Costa Rica at a very affordable pricepoint but the downside IMO is that you spend a lot of time on a bus and travel in a large crowd of 30-40 persons. With a group of 5 it would be easy to personalize a trip to your interests with as much adventure as you can handle.
