Update: December 2016. Have just returned from the trip, which I organized through Congo Travel and Tours, whom I highly recommend. Price tag was high, but the guides who accompanied me were excellent and I had absolutely no issues with safety or security at any time in my trip. I traveled on one of the boats belonging to Bralima, out of Kisangani.
