With some exceptions, the goal is for first-termers to be assigned to sea duty during their first enlistment. Members assigned to overseas sea duty (including Hawaii) will serve a 36-month tour, regardless of the DOD Area Tour length, with the exception of type 4 duty in Bahrain, which will be a 24-month tour.

Jan 17, 2009 · This Means your first sea tour will be 54 months long followed by a 36 month shore tour. your 2nd sea tour will be 48 months followed by 36 mo. shore tour and so on. I believe a sea tour consist of a bunch of 6 month deployments, However im not 100 % sure. can someone explain ?

Jul 16, 2009 · some ships dont go out to sea very often and others are out constantly. when you get assigned your first duty station, you will be granted a sponser. they will know more about the rotation schedule. most rotations are 6 months out to sea and 12 to 18 months in port, though you will still go out on shorter underways.
