The band was originally created by Pat and Lolly Vegas with the addition of Tony Bellamy and Pete DePoe. This is until today considered as the classic Redbone line-up. The four of them reached success. Only Pete had to leave the band due to familial problems in 1972. He was then replaced first by Arturo Perez, and then by Butch Rillera.
