Google Earth Pro wraps it inside an MP4 container (extension .m4v, but .mp4 is sometimes used by convention). This does not play on my QuickTime player for some reason. QuickTime does support H.264 but it seems its support may be incomplete, and doesn't match the H.264 "profile" used by the OpenH264 encoder used by Google Earth Pro.
