The 13,300-square-foot SCADshow features two stages with a total of 560 seats. Built in 1986 as the Academy Theater, SCADshow serves as home to aTVfest and other SCAD Atlanta events. The Savannah College of Art and Design was founded in 1978, and the first classes were taught in the spring of 1979 in the former Savannah Volunteer Guards Armory. The armory was purchased and renovated to serve as the first classroom and administration building and named Poetter Hall after May L. and Paul E. Poetter, who helped found SCAD.
