What is Smash Factor? - TrackMan

    https://blog.trackmangolf.com/smash-factor/
Smash Factor is ball speed divided by club speed. Smash Factor relates to the amount of energy transferred from the club head to the golf ball. The higher the smash factor the better the energy transfer. A golfer would hope to achieve a smash factor near 1.50 on driver shots. That means for a 100 mph club speed the ball speed would be 150 mph.

What the smash factor (as explained to me by the Carolinas PGA rules committee chairman) is, is a measurement of how well the ball comes off the face. There’s a specific calculation for it but I’m not positive of it and anything over a 1.50 usually is a tell tale sign that either the club or ball is illegal.

Nov 03, 2015 · Generally, top professionals would be aiming for a 1.5 smash factor with a driver and a 1.4 smash factor with mid irons. But it’s important to note that any level of golfer can achieve these numbers; a young child who has a good relationship between his club speed and ball speed could produce a 1.5 smash factor!

The PGA tour averages between a 1.48 and 1.49 Smash Factor reading. For example, using the equation above, a ball speed of 140mph and club-head speed of 100mph will produce a smash factor of 1.40 (140 divided by 100=1.40). However, with a more controlled swing, if the club head speed is only 98mph but the ball speed is 145mph, the resulting ...

Aug 23, 2017 · Limitations placed by physics and the rules on club and ball design have given smash factor a nominal upper limit of 1.5 (15 players on the PGA Tour currently hit this, or slightly above) – in other words, in a perfect world a 100mph impact clubhead speed would produce a 150mph ball speed.

Mar 26, 2020 · Smash factor is calculated by dividing the ball speed by the clubhead speed. A smash factor of 1.5 is most often only attainable with the driver. The ball spends 1/2000th of a second on the clubface. That means it would take a scratch handicap golfer almost 28 rounds of even par golf to have the ball be on the clubface for one second!

Apr 03, 2012 · Tiger Woods has a smash factor of 1.48. Bubba Watson is around 1.52. The average amateur has a smash factor of about 1.20. What's this mean? Your smash factor, which is a clever way to gauge how effectively and efficiently you're compressing the golf ball, measures your ball speed divided by your clubhead speed.

Smash Factor: What is it? Why Is It So Important for Golfers?

    https://practical-golf.com/smash-factor/
Smash factor is a golf term that might sound intimidating, but to me it is the most important metric for ball striking. It is simply defined as the ball speed divided by clubhead speed. I like to think of it as how efficiently you are hitting the golf ball.
