I absolutely would not take a circle island bus ride with kids. You are looking at 5 hours on the bus without stopping. Add another 30 minutes or an hour for each stop (buses run about every 30 minutes.) If there is one day that you should rent a car, this is it. In a 5 hour car tour you can see & do more than you can in a 10 hour circle bus ride.
