Apr 04, 2018 · AD IZ will launch higher and feel livelier than the AD TP. For me, the AD IZ was very loose in a 6X at 120mph. Especially at transition. AD TP in a 6X holds up to my swing speed but can get a little wild at times. IMO AD DI and AD IZ both play soft to flex and are more for people who like that lively feeling and pronounced kick.

According to Graphite Design, the Tour AD IZ falls somewhere between the higher launching DI and the lower launching Tour AD TP, though its profile and performance are more similar to the former. The Numbers. I tested my Tour AD-DI gamer shaft (45.5 inches, tipped 1 inch) against a Tour AD-TP shaft (45.5 inches, untipped) and a Tour AD-TP shaft (45.5 inches, tipped 1 inch) in a TaylorMade M1 460 head (10.5 degrees) set to neutral. Yes, I have a bit more swing speed in the tank than displayed below, but it’s also late October and I don’t want to have a blown out back all winter.

AD VR Performance Characteristics. Given how Graphite Design describes the VR, it’s reasonable to base our comparisons around the Tour AD IZ. The company says the AD VR has the softer tip of the two, but it’s important to remember that butt, middle and tip section measurements can vary tremendously based on how each section of shaft is defined by those taking the measurements.

The Tour AD TP for example, will launch slightly lower and feel a little firmer in the midsection than the Tour AD DI…better for players with faster transitions. The Tour AD GP, while having a very stiff tip section, delivers tighter shot dispersion for certain players.
