Tour 1 of the Mining Trail is a circular hike of intermediate difficulty starting at the cable car in Hochoetz and leading via the Balbach Alm hut, the Wörgltal Valley, the summit of the Wetterkreuzkogel mountain (2,592m) and the Bielefelder Hütte hut back to the starting point.

Easiest way is to take the Acherkogelbahn gondola from the Ötz ski area and then push and carry the bike for a little over an hour on a trail to the Wetterkreuz peak. Alternatively it is possible to ride up a forest road from Ochsengarten about half way and then push and carry on a trail the rest of the way.
